TellurideCO

The Resort

Nestled in a box canyon surrounded by majestic 13,000- foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains, the Town of Telluride is filled with colorful legends, the least of which surround the name itself. Most agree that the town is named after tellurium, a nonmetallic element associated with rich mineral deposits of gold and silver. However, a much more entertaining theory originated from the castaway call "To-Hell-You-Ride" shouted by loved ones that knew of the town's boisterousness. Visitors still flock to this six block wide, twelve block long sanctuary for a glimpse into Colorado's mining past and for unparalleled skiing and snowboarding conditions.

Each year, Mother Nature generously blankets Telluride with over 300 inches of sparkling snow. That snow falls on 1,700 skiable acres; wide open cruisers, steeps, slow rollers, bumps, powder, and chutes. On 3,522 skiable vertical feet, skiers and snowboarders of all abilities will find something ideal (just ask Jonny Moseley, Telluride's new Ambassador of Skiing!). The addition of 400 acres on Gold Hill offers even more enticing terrain and with steeps that other ski areas can only dream about, Telluride has terrain to defy even the most tenacious of shredders.

After a full day on the slopes, you will enjoy the benefits of Telluride's sister town of Mountain Village. Perched at 9,500 feet mid-mountain on the south side of the ski area, Mountain Village, incorporated in 1995, hosts a bustling melange of luxury hotels and condos, stylish botiques, innovative dining, exciting nightlife, world-class spas, a championship golf course, and a state of the art conference center.

As one of the hottest names in skiing and snowboarding, Telluride plays host to many of the worlds rich and famous right alongside folks from all walks of life. Not only have Oprah and TomKat become household names around town, Telluride also hosts annual events such as the Telluride Film Festival, Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, Mushroom Festival, Nothing Day Festival, and Bluegrass Festival. The accommodations are nearly all in the deluxe or luxury category creating a five-star playground for celebrities and the rest of us alike.

Whether it's the diversity of deluxe ski-in/ski-out accommodations available in town and throughout the Mountain Village, the uncrowded slopes, the 50k of mountain Nordic trails, the breathtaking scenery of the San Juan mountains, the charm and color of genuinely historic 19th Century USA, or simply the mystique that is Telluride, this resort is a truly unique Colorado jewel that enraptures the spirit and challenges visitors to find a more favorite place. After your visit, you'll understand why.
